MacRouter support
Start with browser setup, then add Google checks if you need them.
1. Set up incoming links
Open MacRouter’s settings and choose Set as Default Browser. macOS controls the consent step. MacRouter checks the actual HTTP and HTTPS handlers and keeps the previous browser information for recovery.
2. Set up Chrome profiles
In Browsers & Profiles → Load Profile Names…, select Chrome’s Local State file from your user Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome folder. This lets MacRouter read profile names and account labels.
Profile routing uses an optional launcher you install yourself. Download SandboxProfileLauncher.sh and read its source before enabling it. It opens the selected supported browser with a profile directory and URL; it runs with your macOS user’s privileges.
- In MacRouter’s launcher setup, choose Open Scripts Folder.
- Move the downloaded script into that folder:
~/Library/Application Scripts/rocks.tekna.MacRouter/. - In Terminal, make this specific file executable:
chmod u+x "$HOME/Library/Application Scripts/rocks.tekna.MacRouter/SandboxProfileLauncher.sh". - Return to MacRouter and choose Choose Installed Script…, then select that file.
The app does not install or run a launcher without your selection. Ordinary routing to a browser without choosing a profile does not require this launcher.
3. Connect Google accounts, optionally
Choose Connect Google Account for the matching browser profile, finish sign-in in that browser, and review Google’s requested identity, email and read-only Drive metadata permissions. During the private beta, the Nuvex client is limited to the authorized test account. Advanced users can import their own Desktop client.
If you already connected an account through a custom client, Reconnect uses that account’s original client. Removing it from this Mac deletes its local token; Google authorization can be revoked separately from your Google Account connections.
Return to your previous browser
- Choose Restore in System Settings… in MacRouter.
- Open Desktop & Dock → Default web browser and select your preferred browser.
- If Settings already displays that browser while links still go to MacRouter, select another browser, then select the preferred browser again.
- Return to MacRouter and verify both HTTP and HTTPS show the preferred browser. Open a public test link to check the result.
When the picker appears
The picker appears when no rule or remembered destination applies, a Google check fails, or several profiles could handle a document. Choose the intended profile. Google Workspace restrictions and expired beta credentials may require reconnecting or administrator help.
Contact Nuvex
Email eduardo@nuvex.tech with the app build, macOS version, browser version, steps and expected result. Remove private URLs, file IDs, tokens and credentials from screenshots or logs. Invited beta testers can also send feedback through TestFlight.
Some apps choose a browser directly. Links within browsers and universal links may bypass the macOS default-browser handler. Safari profile selection is not supported.
