Choose a destination. Remember it when useful.

A clear path from link to profile.

01 · Set up

Choose your browsers

Make MacRouter the default handler for incoming web links. Add browser profile names using files you explicitly select.

02 · Route

Choose or create a rule

Use the picker when a link needs a decision. Website rules and remembered document choices can reuse a destination.

03 · Check, optionally

Connect Google accounts

For Google document links, optional metadata checks help identify accounts that can access the file. When the result is uncertain, the picker asks you to choose.

Permissions with a purpose.

MacRouter runs locally on your Mac. Google sign-in is optional. Connected-account tokens stay in macOS Keychain, and Google checks request file metadata rather than document contents.

Chrome profile routing needs a setup step.
You install and select the reviewed profile launcher yourself. It runs with your macOS user’s privileges and receives the URL, browser path and selected profile. Read the script before installing it.

Know what routing can do.

MacRouter controls incoming links sent through macOS’s default-browser path. Links already inside a browser, universal links, and apps that choose a browser directly may behave differently. Routing does not change a document’s permissions.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Browser and profile support depends on your setup. Safari profile selection is not supported.
